You Never Get To Be a Child Twice (20’ x 10’)
You never get to be a child twice, Children's Mural (20' x 10') San painted this for the Crisis Center of Gary, Indiana, a Safe Place for children. She gave this as a gift to heal and uplift the many hundreds of children who will be seeking refuge there. It shows many children of different races doing innocent childlike
things such as fishing, butterfly catching and gazing in the water at their reflections and the fish just underneath the surface. The top of the mural wall had a very large security light in the way…….so she made it into a big dragonfly that is carrying a banner across the top saying, ‘You never get to be a child… twice.’ Hence, the reflections of the children
in the water…twice.” Children's
murals are obviously fun and full of curiosity. It was a wonder experience watching the looks on the kids faces soften as they would walk by this children’s mural three times a day on the way to the cafeteria. I had the pleasure of meeting the staff that takes care of the children here. They are all wonderful human beings that care about the kids and go above and beyond
to see that they are safe. |
Welcome Sign
|
Welcome sign for the Aspen Camp of the deaf and hard of hearing painted
in 2006. I
had taken a driving and camping trip around North America and one of our stops was in Aspen, Colorado. We
spent a few days there volunteering our time of cleaning up the camp, to get ready for their upcoming season of hearing impaired children from all over the country. I volunteered my services to
paint this much needed welcome sign for their front door. The one they had was made of a quilted cotton material which over the years of harsh Aspen weather, had
seen its better days for sure! This sign had the state flower of blue columbine on one side and then I placed the golden aspen leaves this town is so well known for, on the other side.

Venice in September Painting on Canvas (3’ x 4’)
|
This painting was auctioned off at a black tie even in Naples, Florida for
a local children’s charity. It is a lovely scene from Venice, Italy as a remembrance of my trip there with my mother
and friends. Venice is so beautiful with some of the best food I have ever eaten, most beautiful milky light green waterways and no motored vehicles allowed on the Island at
all. Their main form of transportation is by boat and pull/push carts. We stayed at a quaint hotel called the IrisHotel.
