Mangrove Sunset Beach Mural (4' x 4')
This beach mural was painted above a fireplace in Naples, Florida in a niche already framed out above the mantel. I actually don't know what I like the most about this one, but I feel this is about the best sky I have ever painted. Pat, my client, loves it and the birds she had me paint
in the water by the beach reflected how she loves them. I studied the types of mangroves we have here in Florida before painting the detail of them and they turned out quite well. When this was finished, Pat gave me a Florida bird book published by someone she knows and I still to this day refer to that book when I want to identify my own sightings. Beach murals can make a room seem so peaceful. Beach
scenes from a blue sky to a sunset sky, aqua water to pale blue, reflect the mood (no pun intended) you are trying to set in the room. Murals of this type can be as small as an art niche type to a mural as big as the room itself. Bringing the beach mural inside is one way to ensure relaxation. I have traveled all the coasts of this great nation from Florida, Alabama, Mississippi,
Louisiana, onto Texas, California, Oregon, the state of Washington, Georgia, the Carolinas and all up the
Northeast coastline. Every beach is different, from golden sands, white sands, coarse and fine,
to glitter-like sparkling grey and black sands mixed with mica from volcanic rock breaking down,
on the Northwest coasts. Cannon beach in Oregon has large, round, black, flat rocks with
smooth edges dispersed all over its beaches that make them very hard to walk on, but fun to try to keep your balance. The beaches in Maine close to Canada are great where the water seems to move fast and furious
to cut out the beaches there and make for an ever changing coastline. I remember the Carolina beaches as very grassy and golden. |
