Tarpon 5-Underwater Art Mural (18’ by 12’)
|
This mural was done for the Charlotte Harbor Events and Conference Center in Punta Gorda, Florida. I was commissioned by the county to complete this extraordinary, underwater mural. It took 5 weeks to complete. I painted the top part on site as shown by the photo and then painted the bottom water part in my
studio on a large piece of canvas 6 ft. by 18 ft. wide and then took that part to the site and adhered it to the wall. Then the underwater mural had to be finished by melding the two halves together. This was done by painting the murals water line obvious, placing mangrove roots and splashing bubbles underwater to make the depth of the water obvious. The dolphin in the center looks
realistic, the snook off to the right are swimming in interesting shapes and the 5 tarpon swimming around the decomposing branches, on the left, have silver leafing I applied, on their scales to make them pop. It is enjoyed by the thousands who pass through this new building, for wedding receptions, parties, conferences and meetings of any kind. |
Hammin it Up
|
This is me in my studio, after completing the painting 'Hammin it up' for the Collier County Library Children's wing at 2432 Lucerne Road Naples, FL 34116. Phone: (239) 252-4542. They called me to do this for they had already found my website and liked the underwater scene I
did for the Charlotte
County Event and Conference Center in Punta Gorda, Florida. The Friends of the Library in Naples, Florida was responsible for making this painting happen. From their donation and mine, we made this possible
to give the children in this area something to learn from. I make a plaque numbering and describing the Genus species of all of the marine life so that all could learn from. I then made up posters and had them printed to give out for the grand opening in October of 2010, commemorating some of the local fish life in the waters in the Gulf of Mexico. I made this informative with painting
some endangered species to make everyone aware of just how fragile their existence is. |
Hammin it Up (Final Photo)

This is the final photo of how the painting looks. It is 18 feet wide by 6 feet high. |
Hammin it Up
|
This is me, after I had someone take my photo, suspended on milk crates, in full snorkeling gear in my studio, to look like I was swimming. Then she cut me out of that photo and pasted me into the photo of the Hammin It Up painting and made me look like I was swimming right through my own scene! Ya gotta love it! I had these made into posters and anyone wanting one, should email me at san@artbysan.com and I can send one to you for a charge of $10.00 includes shipping. |
